There is no standard procedure to acknowledge judgments from other countries. It all depends. It depends on what the judgment was based on. Depending on the content, different motions are to be applied so a foreign verdict can take effect.

Circumcision is a Crime

A devout Muslim physician in Cologne circumcised a four-year-old boy in a professional manner, as the boy’s parents had requested. A medical indication did not exist. Two days later, as “normally” can happen, secondary bleeding occurred. The mother brought her son to the University Hospital Cologne where the bleeding was successfully stopped. German Courts Soon Discussing in English

Based on an article of F.A.Z. online of 08. Januar 2010, it is planned that commercial cases can be discussed and judged in the English language. This is at least an initiative of the Ministers of Justice of North Rhine Westphalia and Hamburg, Müller-Piepenkötter (CDU) and Till Steffen (Grüne).

In other words, the German government has decided to buy a CD containing data on alleged tax evaders, even though the information being sold was illegally gathered. Interpreters to Understand Your Attorney now Financed by Legal Aid

The OLG Celle decided on April 5, 2005 (re: 22 W 12/05) that the costs of interpreters during detention pending expulsion are to be covered by granted legal aid in so far as they are necessary and appropriate for the foreigner to communicate with his or her attorney. If the case for the expulsion of the foreigner to his or her home country is successful, the prerequisites for legal aid must proven anew. Referring to previously submitted documents is usually not sufficient.
