Parent Benefits Starting 2013

As usual, the law was to be simplified and more just, but following the rules of the new law, some applications might turn out to be less rewarded. This page will only show what has changed for the newly born children. It is best to start by reading the page on the old-law and check if something different is written here.

Since when is the new law applicable? We have children aging 2 to 5.

The Act on Parents Benefits and Parents Time-off will be applied for all children born after 2012. If your child was born earlier please go to the old law

How is my net income to be calculated? Is it the same as it shows on my wage slip?

Your eligible salary will not be equal to the one on the wage slip – that would have made things too simple… Flat rates for taxes and social security will be deducted and not the real values anymore (§2f new BEEG). The intention is to simplify the matter for the case decider. Following flat rates are applicable:

  • 9% for statutory health and nursing insurance,
  • 10% for statutory old-age pension insurance,
  • 2% for unemployment insurance.
